It’s likely that you forgot to set up the theme in JavaScript. No it won’t work at all without theme setup.

In app config, do this:

angular.module('myApp', ['ngMaterial']).config(function($mdThemingProvider) {
  $mdThemingProvider.theme('default')
    .primaryPalette('blue')
    .accentPalette('blue-grey')
    .warnPalette('orange');
});

The list of valid palette colours include:

• red
• pink
• purple
• deep-purple
• indigo
• blue
• light-blue
• cyan
• teal
• green
• light-green
• lime
• yellow
• amber
• orange
• deep-orange
• brown
• grey
• blue-grey
